This is an excellent opportunity to join a global yacht management company who are experiencing a sustained period of growth & expansion. The role is based in Southampton (Hybrid) and the expectation is 3 days in the office / 2 at home
The Technical Yacht Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective technical management of an assigned fleet of yachts. The role ensures vessels are maintained to the highest operational, regulatory, and owner standards while managing maintenance programs, refits, budgets, compliance, and technical support to captains and crew.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day technical operations of an assigned fleet of yachts.
- Provide technical advice and support to captains, chief engineers, and onboard crew.
- Develop and oversee planned maintenance programmes.
- Monitor vessel performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
- Review technical reports and implement corrective actions where required
- Ensure vessels remain compliant with all applicable Flag State, Class, Port State, and international maritime regulations.
- Coordinate statutory surveys, inspections, and certification
- Maintain accurate technical records and vessel documentation.
Requirements
- Hold a Chief Engineer CoC or equivalent marine engineering experience is highly desirable.
- Minimum 1-2 years shore based experience in yacht, commercial marine, or technical ship management.
- Previous experience as Chief Engineer on large yachts or commercial vessels preferred (Cruise, Passenger, Offshore etc)
- Proven experience managing refits, maintenance programmes, and technical projects.
- Strong knowledge of classification societies, Flag State requirements, and maritime regulations.
- Experience managing budgets and contractor performance.
- Must have right to work in the UK to be considered.
