This is an excellent opportunity to join an award winning shipping company based in Liverpool.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Electrical Assistant to support the electrical operations and maintenance of a fleet of vessels. The ideal candidate will assist in managing electrical systems, ensuring vessel compliance with regulatory standards, coordinating with onboard engineers, and supporting the planning of repairs, upgrades, and inspections across the fleet.
Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing the maintenance and operation of all electrical systems onboard company-owned vessels (HV/LV, automation, communication, navigation, and control systems).
- Coordinate with shipboard personnel and contractors for timely and cost-effective execution of electrical repairs and planned maintenance.
- Monitor the condition of onboard electrical equipment through reports and inspections, identifying potential issues before they escalate.
- Participate in vessel inspections, audits, and dry-docking activities to assess electrical system performance and compliance.
- Review and analyze technical documentation, maintenance records, and inspection reports.
- Stay informed about new marine electrical technologies, regulatory changes (e.g., SOLAS, Class rules, Flag State requirements), and safety procedures.
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Electrical or Marine Engineering.
- 2–5 years of experience in a technical role in the maritime industry, preferably onboard as ETO or ashore in a superintendent capacity.
- Solid knowledge of marine electrical systems, diesel engines & propulsion systems controls and monitoring systems
- Carry out electrical work and testing surveys, dockings, overhauls and other repairs
- Assist with the preparation of pre-docking tests and inspection, including reports and any follow-up required
- Full UK drivers license and be happy to travel to other ports
