Responsibilities
The Second Engineer is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of all engine room machinery and systems on board the dredger. The role supports the Chief Engineer and ensures the vessel operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with maritime regulations.
- Assist the Chief Engineer in managing engine room operations and maintenance.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain main engines, auxiliary engines, pumps, generators, and dredging-related machinery.
- Carry out planned maintenance and defect repairs as per PMS.
- Supervise engine room ratings and contractors as required.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate engine room logs, maintenance records, and inventories.
- Participate in emergency duties and drills.
Requirements
- 2nd Eng Unlimited
- Advanced Fire Fighting
- Medical First Aid
- STCW 95 PST, FF, First Aid, PSCRB,
- Current unrestricted ENG1
- High Voltage certificate
- Security Awareness & Designated Duties Certificates
