The Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all electrical, electronic, automation, and control systems onboard the LPG tanker. The ETO ensures the safe and reliable performance of cargo handling equipment, power generation systems, navigation interfaces, and safety-critical electrical systems while complying with company procedures, statutory regulations, and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair vessel electrical distribution systems, switchboards, generators, motors, transformers, and automation equipment.
- Monitor and maintain engine room control, alarm, and monitoring systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical and electronic faults to minimize equipment downtime.
- Conduct planned maintenance in accordance with the vessel’s Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
Requirements
- Electro-Technical Officer Certificate of Competency (STCW III/6)
- Valid STCW certification, medical fitness certificate, and tanker endorsements as required.
- Experience as ETO on LPG, LNG, or other gas carriers preferred.
- Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems, PLCs, automation, instrumentation, and hazardous area equipment.
